When a series of bizarre child mutilations terrorizes the city, Lieutenent Adam Burns discovers a pattern. Are the children being punished for the sins of their parents? If so, by whom? The Biblical quotes and clues used in the story are real, as is the Biblical reference to Molech, an early, historical rival of God and a sinister deity, indeed.

To verify our facts, including the Catholic Church's doctrine of "Penal Substitutional Atonement" where one person can bear the punishment for another's sin, we contacted Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican to see what he thought of our story. His Holiness wrote back throuh his Assessor, Monsignor Gabriele Caccia who informed us:
